The very last thing he expects to ever do in his life is to get married and yet this is exactly what happens to him one summer evening.

The evening that Barney first told Valancy that she was too nice to be real and that she must be a dream to him could have been one of many times that he would repeat that thought. This is another of those moments, a bit of Summer fluff and funny moments between them. It takes place at a time between the dream comment and the scene at the railroad in the actual book.

In another story published on the Anne of Green Gables category called 'One Night', Barney takes care of Valancy while she is very sick. In this version, it is Barney who is not well. This was very briefly referred to in the original novel. I've just had a little fun imagining more into the scene. Both characters are the copyrights of LMM & others, they're only borrowed here.

A first Christmas together for Valancy and Barney. This story fits with "A Few Days Away" in this category. I do not claim any rights to the L.M. Montgomery characters used, they are just "borrowed" for a scene or two or three.
