In Crime and Punishment, Marmeladov's death was presented abruptly, devoid of a definite perspective on how his demise came to fruition. "Marmeladov's Last Day" serves to fill that gap and illustrate his sickly state of mind as well as the mental turmoil he endured in the moments preceding up to his death. I would suggest having already read Crime and Punishment.
